The Twelve Powers in Everyday Life

We dealt with the Twelve Powers extensively at Unity.  In doing so we would focus on a power every month along with the corresponding color and apostle.  I realized that these powers can also be utilized by students in school and in everyday life.  The following is some application of the Twelve Powers as it applies to everyday life:

FAITH - (Peter – Blue) – As students, even though we might possess great intellect we also need faith in God to be successful. In developing the quality of faith, we must start as Peter did; by being receptive to   Unity teachings and letting them grow.

STRENGTH – (Andrew – Spring Green) – Strength is not just a physical attribute. You also possess the    inner strength to stay the course and persevere in your school work.

WISDOM – (James – Yellow) - You have the ability to evaluate, discern and analyze what is before you.

LOVE- (John, pink) – The ability to attract, unite and desire.  In this era where Cyber-bullying and other hateful acts are so prevalent in schools it is important that Unity students convey Love.   You have the power to offer unconditional love.

POWER – (Phillip, purple) – You have the Power or the ability to have dominion over everything you do. This includes school work, sports and any other activity.  Children of God should never feel powerless.

IMAGINATION – (Bartholomew, light blue) – You have the ability to be imaginative. Do not imagine anything but success because the law of thought would bring your imagination into fruition.

UNDERSTANDING – (Thomas, gold) - Even if material might seem difficult at first, you have the power of Understanding. You can perceive and comprehend anything once you accept the challenge.

WILL – (Mathew, silver) – You have been given the Will to choose.  Based on your spiritual understanding at Unity seek to choose that which is good and righteous.

ORDER – (James Son of Alphaeus, olive green) – You have the ability to organize and balance things in your life.  If you are disorganized,   you are not accessing your innate power of Order.

ZEAL – (Simon, orange) – You have the ability to be enthusiastic and passionate about anything you are involved with. When you rise in the morning you should be enthused about attending school. When taking test you should be excited. You have the innate power of Zeal.

ELIMINATION – (Thaddeus, russet) - You have ability to release, denounce, deny and let go.  Whether it is a friend who is a bad influence, a bad habit that you need to drop or a food that you need to stop eating.

LIFE – (Judas, red) - The ability to energize, vitalize, animate and invigorate.  Life is good.  Be a beacon of Light.
